Bounce Pillow – Iceland’s Best Kept Secret

Bounce Pillow. Frolic Pods. Bounce Blobs. Aerslabelgir. Jumpy Pillow. What do these all have in common?

They are all names for the most underrated thing to do in Iceland! These inflatable recreational activities are so much fun. They are all over Iceland and our kids loved keeping an eye out for them while we were driving around. When we went to Iceland, there were 103 spread throughout the country.

The Bounce Pillows are all different sizes. Some are at schools, some are at local playgrounds, and some are just in an open field.

Getting There

These Bounce Pillows are located all around Iceland. The map of where they are all located is found here.

Cost of Visiting the Bounce Pillows

Free! The Bounce Pillows are at public playgrounds and are free to jump on. The ones we stopped at also had free parking, but be aware that much of Iceland requires a fee to park.

Parking at the Bounce Pillows

The Bounce Pillows are located at public parks, most of which have nice paved parking close by. We never had to pay to park at any of the Bounce Pillows we stopped at, but many places in Iceland require a fee for parking, so just look at all the posted signs.

Bounce Pillows

Playing on the Bounce Pillows is one of the best ways we found to meet local Icelandic people. Our kids learned many different games to play from the local children and they had a lot of fun bouncing together.

There is a Bounce Pillow by a model of a Viking Temple, so you might get a surprise history lesson as well when you stop to bounce.

We came across two Bounce Pillows that were not full of air. There is not a reliable way to look up if a Bounce Pillow is inflated or not, so be prepared that you might have to drive a little farther to enjoy this hidden gem.

**Important Information: They are only inflated during the “warm” summer months, so make sure you take advantage of the nice weather and jump for a few minutes.

Are the Bounce Pillows Worth Visiting?

Absolutely!!! This was one of our favorite parts of Iceland! If you are travelling with kids, or the young at heart, you have to give it a try! We also spent most of the trip trying to learn how to say Aerslabelgir…and I don’t think we ever got it right. Our Icelandic is not very good.

Recreate Responsibly

Please remember to recreate responsibly so that other people can enjoy it after you. Leave the Bounce Pillow how you found it and respect the area around it.
